High Court Halts Municipality Split, Protects Project, Dismisses Staff

The Western Cape High Court has protected the MyCiTi public transport project from unlawful interference.

In a separate ruling, the High Court halted the split of a Free State municipality until the 2031 elections. The High Court also ordered the forfeiture of R287,750 transferred from a defrauded victim. In Uganda, a High Court judge ruled that Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba had not interfered with the treason trial of Dr. Kizza Besigye and Obeid Lutale.

The High Court of Justice in Israel criticized the Knesset for failing to provide polling stations in nursing homes. The Karnataka High Court quashed notices issued to a private hospital by city police. A former driver for a High Court judge in Malaysia was jailed for three months for criminal intimidation. In South Africa, a driver received three months' jail for intimidating a High Court judge.

The Kerala High Court was informed by the Union government that a response is awaited from the Indian Navy regarding an underwater operation to assess the wreckage of MSC Elsa 3. Three judges with diverse legal backgrounds joined the Islamabad High Court, raising its strength to 10.
