Nepal Flood Death Toll Rises to 1,127; Thousands Still Missing

The Nepal flood death toll has risen to 1,127, with the search for 4,858 missing people continuing.

Earlier reports indicated the Nepal-China flash floods death toll topped 1,000 after 84 more fatalities, with 4,462 people missing at that time. Massive search efforts continue for flood victims along the Nepal-China border. Hope dwindles for Nepali families still looking for missing loved ones.

Nepalis are honoring unidentified flood victims at a burial site, and temporary burials are being conducted. Amid ongoing tunnel rescue operations, 163 Indian nationals were rescued. The death toll reached 1,050 at one point as rescuers recovered more bodies. The death toll crossed 1,000 nearly a week after catastrophic floods hit Nepal. The dead are being laid to rest in mass graves.

Rescue teams are continuing to dig in search for thousands more missing. At an earlier stage, the death toll rose to 987, with nearly 4,000 people still missing. Rescuers have reached remote areas, and power was restored in some of these locations. The death toll had also been reported at 1,003 at one point.
