House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries pledges to prosecute every single member of the Trump cartel if Democrats gain a congressional majority, following a private meeting with Jared Kushner.

Jeffries stated in a video posted on X that Kushner requested the meeting to discuss the affordability crisis. Jeffries confirmed the meeting took place in Brooklyn, New York City. He emphasized that no one is going to get a pass and Democrats will hold crooks accountable by following facts, applying the law, and being guided by the Constitution.

Jeffries cited past actions by House Democrats, including battling the Trump administration on tariffs, Medicaid, Epstein, nutritional assistance, the Affordable Care Act, the war in Iran, ICE funding, and corruption. He also noted that Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem are gone. The meeting, first reported by The New York Times, discussed housing, immigration, and the cost of living as potential areas of common ground.

Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, holds no official role in the current administration but serves as an outside adviser. The meeting has drawn criticism from some Democrats and left-wing commentators. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, however, voiced support for Jeffries, stating he continues to support Jeffries' bid to become leader. Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) said Kushner is just keepings lines of communication open to create opportunities for future discussions.

David Rothkopf, a global affairs columnist, suggested Kushner's meeting signals Trump is terrified of being impeached again. House Speaker Mike Johnson said he heard about the meeting for the first time on Sunday morning and minimized Kushner's importance, stating Kushner hedges bets and is not really directly involved in the admin. House Judiciary Committee Democrats have escalated an investigation into Kushner, warning his conduct related to an Albanian luxury resort could expose him to liability under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) sent Kushner a letter demanding records on the approval or consideration of his Albanian coastal development.
