The Pentagon has raised the official U.S. military death toll from operations against Iran to 21, revising casualty figures that officials had previously undercounted.

The updated Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS) now includes two noncombat deaths: Army National Guard Maj. Sorffly Davius, 46, who died in Kuwait on March 6, and an unidentified Navy member who died by suicide in September. The revised figure also incorporates the death of Sgt. Devin A. Seibel, 26, who died in a training accident in Iraq in May. The military has classified Seibel's death under Operation Inherent Resolve and stated it was not connected to ongoing operations against Iran.

The updated DCAS figures also show 865 service members have been wounded. The Pentagon's revision follows a September report by The Washington Post, citing six U.S. officials, that information in the DCAS was underreporting fatalities.
