Karnataka’s Minister for Large & Medium Industries, M.B. Patil, stated on August 15 that Housing Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan's patriotism is unquestionable. He cited electoral and party-organisational responsibilities in a letter dated August 11, 2026, addressed to Karnataka’s Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar. The BJP criticized Mr. Khan ahead of Independence Day for seeking this exemption and demanded his sacking. Separately, BJP legislators staged a protest inside the Vidhana Soudha premises over the absence of women ministers in the recently expanded D.K. Shivakumar Cabinet. They called the ruling Congress anti-women and raised slogans against the state government. State BJP president BY Vijayendra led this protest. On August 14, BJP legislators staged a dharna in front of the Bhuvaneshwari statue near Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru.
