Lindell Loses Minnesota GOP Primary; Democrats See Mixed Results

Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth defeated MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell in the Republican gubernatorial primary on Tuesday.

Lindell, who received President Donald Trump’s endorsement, refused to concede, alleging voting anomalies. Demuth secured 43.6 percent of the vote to Lindell's 32.3 percent, according to early results. In Wisconsin's Democratic gubernatorial primary, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley narrowly defeated democratic socialist Francesca Hong by approximately 3,000 votes. The Associated Press called the race early Wednesday morning with Crowley ahead by less than a percentage point.

In Minnesota's Democratic Senate primary, Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan defeated centrist Rep. Angie Craig by roughly 20 percentage points. Flanagan, a supporter of universal healthcare and halting military support for Israel, was endorsed by Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. These results come as Democrats aim to redefine their identity ahead of the November midterms following losses in 2024.

While Wisconsin rejected a DSA-endorsed candidate, Minnesota voters chose a progressive candidate. Democrats are attempting to regain power after Republicans, led by President Donald Trump, secured the White House and Congress in 2024. Progressive candidates have capitalized on economic anger, promising higher taxes on the wealthy and universal healthcare. In South Carolina, Sen. Darline Graham will advance to a runoff election for the Republican nomination.
