Air Force Major Criminally Charged for Criticizing Trump, Calling for Impeachment
The Story
Maj. Jason Watson, a US airman, was officially criminally charged Monday under the Uniform Code of Military Justice for comments criticizing President Donald Trump.
Watson faces three violations of Article 88 for alleged contemptuous remarks about Trump, five violations of Article 92 for allegedly disobeying orders, and two violations of Article 133 for alleged conduct unbecoming an officer. The rare Article 88 charges are connected to Watson's June interview with the Defenders of our Republic Substack newsletter, his July 1 protest in uniform at the US Capitol, and an August 17 CNN interview.
His attorney, Chris Mutimer, states Watson was ordered to remain in pre-trial confinement. Watson told CNN's Erin Burnett that Trump is flagrantly violating the Constitution, breaking the law, engaged in rampant corruption, and is killing Americans. During his July 1 protest, Watson, accompanied by Democrat Rep. Al Green, carried a sign reading "Impeach Convict Remove" and called for the removal of President Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
