Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated Sunday that there is no military solution to the US war, emphasizing that the era of wasting time and dictating demands is over and the US must reach a dignified diplomatic solution.

Speaking to foreign ambassadors in Tehran, Araghchi warned that any renewed military confrontation would trigger a stronger Iranian response. Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the country's top negotiator, also declared Sunday that the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until seven Iranian conditions, based on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, are met. Iran presented a proposal during the UN General Assembly for the strait to reopen within seven days if these conditions were accepted.

The US responded to this proposal last week via Qatari intermediaries. Tehran's conditions include a halt to US acts of aggression, an end to the US naval blockade of its ports and economic warfare, and the release of Iranian assets. A key US demand is that Iran dismantle its nuclear weapons program. On Sunday, the UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre reported a tanker was struck by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, causing damage to its engine room. The crew was reported safe. Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis also claimed Saturday they targeted a Saudi Aramco facility in Riyadh with ballistic missiles and drones.
