Tory Plan Would Bar Foreign Nationals From UK Social Housing
The Story
Conservative Party plans would end social housing provision for foreign nationals in England if the party wins the next general election.
The proposal, announced by Kemi Badenoch, states that tenants who do not qualify under the new rules would be removed from accommodation within six months. The party claims this measure would free up approximately 230,000 properties across England. Reform UK has accused the Conservatives of adopting their policies. Kemi Badenoch has also sent a letter to voters in Clacton, stating they deserve better than Nigel Farage, despite the Conservative Party not fielding a candidate in that constituency.
President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has extended sympathy to former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, at the age of 62. The Nigerian government has also approved the recruitment of 3,252 Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) teachers into federal service to address shortages. The Conservative Party's proposal to exclude foreign nationals from social housing aims to address housing availability.
The party asserts this policy would make a number of properties available. Reform UK has publicly commented on the Conservative proposals. Further details on the implementation timeline or specific criteria for qualification under the proposed policy have not been detailed in the coverage.
