Pakistan summoned India's Chargé d'Affaires to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, October 3, 2026, to lodge a strong protest over the killing of two Pakistani civilians by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.

The incident occurred on Friday, October 2, in the Bedian Sector along the International Border near Kasur. Pakistan's Foreign Office stated that BSF personnel resorted to unprovoked lethal force against unarmed civilians, describing the action as wholly unjustified and grossly disproportionate, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives. The deceased were identified as Azmat Rasool and Mohsin Jutt, residents of Ladhar village.

Pakistan categorically rejected any attempt to mischaracterize the deceased as infiltrators, asserting that the incident constituted a serious violation of fundamental human rights, including the right to life. The Foreign Office called upon India to conduct an immediate, transparent, and credible investigation, take appropriate disciplinary and legal action against those responsible, and formally communicate the findings to the Government of Pakistan.

Pakistani security sources reported that three civilians were targeted without warning after moving a few steps beyond a Pakistani border pillar, with two killed and one injured. The injured civilian was taken for medical treatment. Indian officials, however, stated that BSF troops shot dead two suspected Pakistani intruders in Punjab's Tarn Taran district on Friday.

Tarn Taran Deputy Superintendent of Police Atul Soni said three intruders were advancing towards the Indian side, but one returned to Pakistan. The two others continued moving despite warnings and were provoking the troops, according to a BSF sentry, leading the BSF to open fire.
