President Donald Trump stated he has no regrets about initiating the Iran war and would repeat his actions if given the chance.

He told Fox News's Laura Ingraham that not engaging in the conflict would have led to Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon, which he claimed would result in the wiping out of Israel, the Middle East, and U.S. cities. Trump asserted the war would conclude immediately after the November midterm elections, predicting a subsequent fall in oil and gas prices.

This comes as White House advisors reportedly discussed with Trump the possibility of the war extending beyond his current term. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced plans to sanction a large bank on Monday, September 14, 2026, to honor 9/11 victims. Bessent stated that the Dubai branches of Egypt's second-largest bank were sanctioned for allegedly providing Iran $1.8 billion, and a "30th-largest Turkish bank" also faced sanctions.

Trump also denied reports of damage to U.S. assets in Jordan following an Iranian claim of hitting multiple U.S. fighter aircraft. He defended the Iran war at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, criticizing Democrats. The conflict is reportedly weighing on Trump and Republicans as they campaign, with Trump facing declining approval ratings attributed to the war, high gas prices, and inflation.
