Donald Trump Attacks Tucker Carlson, Approval Rating Shifts With Parents

President Donald Trump posted a scathing attack on Tucker Carlson on social media on Friday night, mocking Carlson's political chances and others in his breakaway MAGA faction.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, "Tucker Carlson just met with Lightweight ‘Former’ Congressman, Thomas Massie, and Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene, LOSERS ALL!" Trump claimed Carlson's "Views" have fallen through the floor and that he has become totally irrelevant. Carlson, a conservative commentator, recently said he would no longer support the Republican party and pledged to launch a third party.

Earlier this month, Carlson hosted Massie, Greene, and others at his home, where they reportedly urged him to run for president in 2028. New polling suggests President Donald Trump's standing with parents has likely declined further in recent weeks. An Echelon Insights survey, conducted August 13 to 17, found 40 percent of parents of children under 18 strongly or somewhat approve of Trump's job performance, compared with 59 percent who strongly or somewhat disapprove, resulting in a net approval rating of -17.

This marks a decline from a July 9 to 13 survey, which showed 44 percent of parents approved and 55 percent disapproved, for a net approval of -11. The July poll included 247 parents, and the August poll included 234. Overall, Trump's approval rating among all voters improved slightly between July and August, though it remains deeply underwater.

The July survey showed 38 percent approval and 61 percent disapproval, a net of -23. Costas Panagopoulos, a professor of political science at Northeastern University, cautioned against over-interpreting the small pool of parent voters but suggested the polling could indicate growing parental concern over Trump's economic and foreign policy choices. A Washington Post/Ipsos poll found nearly 2 in 3 Americans, or 65 percent, feel dissatisfied or upset about Trump’s D.C. renovation projects, leaving him 33 points underwater.

Among independent voters, 73 percent were dissatisfied or upset, placing him 52 points underwater on these projects. A CBS News/YouGov poll also found 64 percent of Americans believe Trump focuses too much on D.C. projects.
