Olivia Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields Festival Raises $20 Million

Pop star Olivia Rodrigo hosted the inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival on August 29 in California.

The festival raised $10 million for women-focused non-profits. Melinda French Gates matched the amount, bringing the total raised to $20 million. Daisy Chain Fields was an all-female event, featuring performances by Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, Kesha, Alanis Morissette, Gwen Stefani, Doechii, Katseye, Mitski, The Breeders, Die Spitz, Bikini Kill, Eli, Garbage, Quiet Light, Rachel Chinouriri, and Not for Radio.

Karen O, Stevie Nicks, and Sarah McLachlan also appeared at the festival. Rodrigo stated the festival was created to celebrate the power of what can happen when they come together to support one another. The non-profit beneficiaries include organizations focused on reproductive health, maternal care, economic empowerment, survivor support, indigenous health, and family services. Specific beneficiaries named include Planned Parenthood, Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, and National Women’s Law Center.

Rodrigo praised Melinda Gates, saying she is one of the most inspiring women I’ve ever met and "She’s devoted her life to empowering women and girls." Rodrigo noted that "Before Lilith Fair, women were told that they couldn’t lead a festival." Rodrigo has previously been vocal about Gaza and Ice.
