US President Donald Trump suggested on Thursday that Washington may need to strike Iran's Pickaxe Mountain, a suspected nuclear site buried beneath layers of rock.

Speaking in an interview with Newsmax, Trump stated, "We'll knock it out fast," and dismissed the need for ground troops, saying, "No, I don't see that." Pickaxe Mountain is described as a heavily fortified underground facility linked to Iran's nuclear program. Trump reiterated that he would not use nuclear weapons in the war on Iran, which began on February 28 with US-Israeli strikes.

He also predicted the war would end soon, either through negotiations or other means. Reports suggested the Pentagon was considering using the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB), popularly known as the mother of all bombs. Trump stressed that the MOAB is not nuclear, describing it as an extremely large bomb. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries stated that Democrats have an opportunity to force an end to the Iran War and may need to threaten a government shutdown to achieve this.

Democrats previously secured House and Senate passage of a war powers resolution in June, but the Trump administration ignored the vote, arguing the law is unconstitutional. On Friday, Saudi military spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki announced the interception of multiple missiles and drones targeting Saudi forces and infrastructure. This followed a deadly Houthi attack on the presidential palace in Aden on Thursday. Brent crude was trading at around $106 per barrel Friday morning.
