At least 30 people were killed and 18 wounded on Thursday when a Russian guided bomb struck two civilian buses in Kramatorsk, eastern Ukraine.

Ukrainian officials described the attack as a deliberate targeting of civilians, with the Donetsk region's governor stating that Russia selects targets to inflict the greatest suffering. Rescue efforts were reportedly hampered by further Russian drone attacks. The strike occurred on a street where the buses were operating, and some reports described the location as a public transport stop.

Images shared online showed charred bus wreckage and debris on the road. The attack is considered one of the deadliest single strikes this year. This incident follows a day of heavy Russian attacks across Ukraine, including a missile strike on a residential building in Pryluky that killed at least 22 people. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the Kramatorsk attack, vowing a response and stating that the world must react harshly to Russia's actions.

Moscow has not yet commented on the latest attack, but has previously denied targeting civilians. Russian forces have intensified drone and guided-bomb strikes on Kramatorsk and other cities in Ukraine's fortress belt as part of its offensive in the Donetsk region. Public transportation in Kramatorsk and neighboring Sloviansk was suspended following the attack due to the deteriorating security situation.
