This occurred days after Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi spoke with Breitbart News. Trump also attacked Somali immigrants, warning that Democrats would allow states to be flooded with migrants from places like Somalia, and that they would raise taxes for migrants to pillage the state budget.

He specifically mentioned Rep. Ilhan Omar, calling her a disaster and stating she came from a country without law and order. Trump also referred to Somaliland as "Somalia land," suggesting a name change. The rally also featured Trump's comments on protesters, including one who was subdued by attendees and another who waved an apparent Palestinian flag.

Trump made remarks about the weight of one protester and the ideology behind support for Palestine. The rally was held to support Republican candidates, including Senator Jon Husted and gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, ahead of the November midterm elections. Trump also targeted Haitian immigrants, referencing past accusations and stating his administration's policies were driving them out of the country.

He linked the situation in Ohio to the state of Minnesota, which he claimed was being destroyed by its Somali immigrant population. Somaliland, a partially recognized nation-state within Somalia, has been seeking to break away due to corruption, terrorism, and piracy, and received recognition from Israel in late 2025.
