A local news helicopter crashed in Chatsworth, a suburban neighborhood in Los Angeles, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, killing three people.

The victims include NBC4 reporter and photojournalist Eliana Moreno, pilot George Marciniw, both employees of Angel City Air, and an unidentified pedestrian on the ground. A fourth person was taken to a hospital. The helicopter, identified as Angel City Air’s NewsChopper4, was providing live aerial coverage of a separate Metro bus and SUV collision that occurred around 5 p.m. local time, which had killed two people and injured several others.

Video footage posted on X reportedly showed the helicopter's live shot as it dropped toward the ground, with Moreno asking Marciniw why he could not pull up before the camera feed cut out. The helicopter crashed between two commercial buildings in a fiery blaze shortly before 7 p.m. local time. The fire spread to four vehicles and two storage containers, with more than 70 firefighters responding to the scene.

NBC4 and Telemundo 52 Los Angeles issued a statement expressing heartfelt condolences to the victims' families and colleagues. California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass also expressed their devastation and condolences. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will investigate the crash, and its cause remains unclear.
