NASA Successfully Launches Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope on Sunday

NASA successfully launched its Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope on Sunday, August 30, aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The telescope, described as the most powerful cosmic surveyor ever sent into space, has begun its three-month journey to a gravitational outpost 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, specifically the second Sun-Earth Lagrange point (L2). From this vantage point, the $4.3-billion observatory will scan the heavens on an unprecedented scale, observing billions of galaxies and aiming to solve some of the biggest mysteries of the universe, including the study of dark energy and dark matter.

President Trump praised NASA and Administrator Jared Isaacman for the successful launch, calling it "THE GOLDEN AGE OF AMERICA!" The telescope is also as the first NASA telescope named after a female scientist.
