Typhoon Dolphin Grounds Hong Kong Flights, Approaches Eastern China

Typhoon Dolphin gradually moves away from Japan's Okinawa prefecture and approaches eastern China, leading to the cancellation of at least 12 flights connecting Hong Kong with mainland China, Taiwan, and Japan.

Hongkongers in Okinawa, whose travel plans were disrupted by the typhoon, are now able to partially resume their itineraries as supermarkets and aquariums reopen. Earlier, Typhoon Dolphin brought strong winds and rain to Okinawa and Amami, hitting Japan with maximum sustained winds of 162 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching 216 kilometers per hour. Five elderly people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in Japan, with three falling due to the wind.

In anticipation of the typhoon's landfall, China shut ports. Taiwan also took precautionary measures, prompting the closure of lanes on the Danjiang Bridge. An accommodation and car rental operator in Okinawa reported disruptions to its services. Eastern China now braces for Typhoon Dolphin's arrival. The typhoon's trajectory indicates it is tracking toward China after affecting Japan.
