Top General Seeks Exit From Iran War, Report Says

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Dan Caine has privately urged Trump administration officials to find an off-ramp from the ongoing war with Iran, according to reports.

Caine has expressed concerns that available military options may not be sufficient to achieve President Donald Trump's stated war objectives and that further airstrikes could backfire. These discussions come as the Iran war enters its sixth month. Caine has reportedly raised his concerns with CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Vice President JD Vance.

He has also stated to other top Trump advisers that airstrikes alone are unlikely to achieve the president's goals. President Trump has reportedly indicated a belief that more air strikes could force a deal. The war is described as both costly and unpopular with Americans. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth informed Congress that the U.S. government has spent an estimated $37.5 billion to date on the war and requested an additional $67 billion in emergency funding.

Caine has stated that the conflict has reached a crossroads where existing military options could end up backfiring. He is reportedly looking for an exit strategy from the conflict. The war has dragged on for more than five months.
