The United States is marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Ceremonies are being held in New York City at Ground Zero, at the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Elected officials and loved ones of those killed gathered in solemn remembrance in Lower Manhattan. President Donald Trump commemorated the anniversary at the Pentagon. The attacks resulted in the deaths of nearly 3,000 people. Memorial rituals include wreath-laying, flag-flying, moments of silence, vigils, and readings of victims' names.

Approximately 40% of the US population was either born after the attacks or is too young to remember them. In New York, the ceremony at Ground Zero involved family members reading the names of the 2,977 victims killed on September 11, 2001, along with the six slain in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

Boston College honored Welles Crowther with its annual Red Bandanna Game. Tinley Park honored first responders at a World Trade Center beam. The US Embassy in Ottawa also honored the anniversary. Former American presidents reflected on the day, and King Charles' guard honored 9/11 victims.
