Russian Missile Strikes Kill At Least 12 in Kyiv

Russian forces launched a massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv and surrounding regions early Thursday, killing at least 12 people and injuring dozens more.

The strikes, described as one of the heaviest since the war began, hit residential buildings and a medical facility. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the attack struck Kyiv, Odesa, and Chernihiv, damaging apartment buildings. Ukraine's air force reported intercepting 186 missiles and drones. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported eight deaths and 33 wounded in the capital, with an additional death and injury in the surrounding region.

Local authorities confirmed at least 13 people were killed overnight into Thursday. Zelenskyy urged a global response to Moscow's escalation. The attacks come as Ukraine struggles with a shortage of air defense missiles. Fires broke out across the capital following the strikes. The bombardment occurred in the early hours of Thursday.
