Military Rescues 21 Abducted Nigerians Including 15 NYSC Members

Twenty-one Nigerians, including 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), have been rescued from a kidnappers' den in the forests of Ofu Local Government Area, Kogi State.

President Bola Tinubu expressed relief over the rescue, stating that the abductees, comprising eight males and 13 females, were freed on Monday afternoon following a coordinated search and rescue operation. The operation involved a combined team of personnel from the military, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and local vigilantes. Tinubu announced that the rescued victims are receiving medical attention before their reunion with families.

He also stated that security forces are continuing to pursue the fleeing suspects. The lawyer for President Tinubu in the United States, Wole Afolabi, argued that the President would have been indicted, arrested, and prosecuted if there were evidence linking him to drug trafficking in the U.S. Former presidential aide Reno Omokri defended Tinubu's opposition to the release of his FBI records.
