Russian attacks killed at least six people across Ukraine and damaged Kyiv’s Northern Bridge on Sunday, disrupting traffic in the capital.

The strike forced authorities to suspend movement on the bridge and added to transport problems caused by earlier attacks on key crossings over the Dnipro River. Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said the attack damaged the bridge’s road surface and trolleybus cables. Two people suffered injuries, with one briefly hospitalized and the other receiving medical assistance at the scene.

Videos shared on social media appeared to show the moment of impact as vehicles crossed the bridge. Russian attacks on Kharkiv and nearby areas killed five people and injured more than 40 others. In Odesa, a Russian strike on a civilian cargo ship killed one sailor and wounded three others. Ukrainian drone attacks reportedly killed two civilians in the Russian-controlled Luhansk region.

Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed responsibility for the strike on the Northern Bridge, claiming the bridge supported military logistics and troop movements. Moscow has recently intensified attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, including residential buildings, warehouses, and transport facilities. Russia’s Foreign Ministry stated it would continue what it called retaliatory strikes on Kyiv and other cities. This marks the fourth consecutive day that Russian forces targeted bridges across the Dnipro River in the capital.

The Southern Bridge was hit multiple times earlier in the week. President Zelenskyy warned that Ukraine will continue to deliver proportional retaliatory strikes against Russian infrastructure, questioning Moscow’s strategic calculations behind striking civilian utilities. He reminded Moscow that its own infrastructure, including mobile communications, operates under identical vulnerabilities. Russia's Defense Ministry said its recent strikes were a response to Kyiv's attacks on civilian targets inside Russia. Both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians.
