Moscow's mayor called Sunday's Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian capital the largest ever, with 1,000 drones targeting Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Sunday that the large-scale strike on Russia involved several weapons, including a "Pelican" for the first time. Zelenskyy wrote on X that long-range attacks on Moscow's region had a impact, hitting one of Russia's key oil industry facilities and the aggressor's logistics facility. He listed systems used as FP-1, RZ-100, MICH-2000, Palianytsia, Vendetta, Liutyi, Bars, Flamingo, Sichen, and Pelican.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 1,600 drones were intercepted, with 450 heading for the capital. The attack killed at least three people. Two people died in Moscow, according to some reports. Huge fires burned through Moscow overnight. The attack occurred on the final day of voting in Russia's parliamentary elections. Ukraine launched more than 1,000 drones at Russia, including hundreds at Moscow, in what officials called its largest attack of the war so far.

The official X account of Ukraine shared an image showing black smoke rising from multiple sites across Moscow, with the caption "Good morning and happy Moscow burning day." This post drew criticism on social media. Military analysts are interested in whether the Pelican is a tactical ballistic missile or a drone. Iryna Terekh, CEO of Ukrainian defense firm Fire Point, said last week that Ukraine could deploy its FP-7 tactical ballistic missile to target Russia in weeks. The FP-7 system can strike targets 200km away and carry a 150kg warhead.
