Five Killed in Michigan; Suspect Found Dead After Manhunt

Michigan State Police are investigating the deaths of five people in Missaukee County following a series of killings on Friday.

Authorities found the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Chad Hickman, dead after a manhunt. Troopers were called to a shooting at a home in Lake Township around 11:40 a.m. local time, where they discovered three people deceased and a fourth person in critical condition. Hickman had fled the scene before troopers arrived. His vehicle was later spotted near a wooded area in Caldwell Township.

During the search, authorities found Hickman and a fourth victim dead in the wooded area. A fifth victim was also found dead at a separate home in Missaukee County, believed to be connected to the same case. The motive for the killings remains under investigation. The names and ages of the victims have not been released as next-of-kin notifications are underway.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer stated she has been briefed on the incident and is monitoring the case. Lt. Ashley Miller of the Michigan State Police described the situation as heartbreaking for the community and challenging for the investigators involved.
