Javier Milei Blasts United Nations as 'Useless Organization' of 'Parasites'
The Story
Argentine President Javier Milei delivered a speech on Wednesday, branding the United Nations a useless organization and a playground for fatally arrogant parasites.
Addressing world leaders, President Milei stated, "To tell an uncomfortable truth is always preferable to a comforting lie." He accused the UN of failing to guarantee collective security and human rights, allowing chaos, violence and international terrorism to flourish. President Milei claimed the alleged defenders of human rights have sheltered bloodthirsty dictatorships and regimes that stone women in the streets.
He also stated they systematically voted against Israel while remaining silent in the face of Islamic terrorism and the genocide of Christians in Africa. President Milei delineated Argentina's geopolitical choice to align with the West, the United States, and Israel. He condemned attacks by the Iranian regime against Israel and designated the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization.
This marked President Milei's third address to the UN General Assembly since taking office in 2023, having also condemned the organization in 2024 and 2025. He organized his criticism into three categories: what the UN should have done but did not, what it should not have done, but did anyway, and comments on its stance on artificial intelligence.
President Milei also pressed Argentina's claim over the Malvinas Islands, known in the UK as the Falkland Islands. He called on the United Kingdom to resume negotiations for a peaceful solution to the sovereignty dispute. President Milei criticized British licenses for oil extraction near the islands and warned Argentina would take action against companies exploiting those resources without authorization.
The United Kingdom responded by stating it has no doubts about its sovereignty over the Malvinas and rejected Argentina's call for negotiations. London cited the 2013 referendum, where 99.8% of voters chose to retain British overseas territory status, with a 92% turnout. The UK stated there would be no talks on sovereignty without the islanders' consent.
