Dyson Launches $500 CameraJet Toothbrush With AI-Powered Camera and WiFi
The Story
Dyson unveiled its new CameraJet toothbrush in Paris on Tuesday, now available for pre-order at $500. The CameraJet includes an in-mouth camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a special app for oral hygiene guidance. The toothbrush features a 100,000-pixel macro lens camera that uses "Gap Optical Targeting," analyzing 28 images a second to find gaps in teeth in real time. Within 100 microseconds of detecting a gap, a precision jet of mouthwash is shot at the area. Dyson states its conical jet removes more plaque while being gentler on gums and enamel compared to competitors' products. The company says this innovation removes the mouthwash step of oral care. The accompanying MyDyson app offers a real-time, up-close view of the mouth while brushing, along with guided cleaning, how-to videos, and personalized feedback. Dyson stops short of saying the gadget can replace flossing, but suggests it helps those not flossing daily. Only about 30% of adults floss daily, as dentists recommend. The CameraJet was developed over six years by 661 engineers. It includes an anti-gravity tank for the mouthwash. A subscription is available for replacement brush heads, mouth rinse, and non-foaming toothpaste. The Ceramic Ultra Blue model has already sold out in the UK. The CameraJet is Dyson's first-ever toothbrush.
