Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) again ruled out a party switch after his video appearance at the first-ever Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas this week.

In the video, Fetterman stated, "Yes, I'm a Democrat," and "I'm always going to stand with America. I'm always going to reject the extremes in socialism and that anti-American way of life." Fetterman also praised Senator David McCormick (R-Pa.), calling him the kind of senator that gets the job done and a friend. He expressed a desire to work with President Trump to fight and defend the steel way of life.

Fetterman's video appearance and his skipping the 2024 Democratic National Convention have caused unease among some Democrats. NBC Congressional Correspondent Ryan Nobles suggested Fetterman will probably never run as a Democrat again and questioned if he would run as a Republican or independent in 2028. Fetterman's frequent Fox News appearances and criticisms of democratic socialists have exasperated Democrats in Washington.

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz, Fetterman's rival in Pennsylvania's 2022 Senate race, said he wants Fetterman to cross the aisle and join the Republican Party. Political commentator Bill O'Reilly suggested Fetterman is going to be a Republican. Commentator Stephen A. Smith slammed Fetterman's video as pretty much spitting in the face of Democrats who elected him.

Representative Chris Deluzio (D-Pa.) said Fetterman was nowhere to be found in his home state. Fetterman's political future and potential party affiliation remain a subject of speculation despite his recent statement.
