Nigerian Military Rescues 21 Kidnapped Victims in Kogi

Security forces rescued 21 individuals, including 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who had been abducted in Kogi State.

The operation, conducted by a joint team of the Nigerian Army, police, and Department of State Services (DSS), along with local hunters and vigilantes, took place in the Egume and Ochaja forest areas. One of the rescued individuals sustained a gunshot wound and received medical treatment. The victims were reportedly abducted along the Alloma-Ejule-Itobe road axis.

Governor Ahmed Ododo commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the security agencies for their swift response, stating that criminals would regret targeting Kogi State. The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, highlighted the rescue as a demonstration of effective collaboration and the determination of federal and state authorities to combat kidnapping and violent crime. This incident occurs amidst a series of abductions reported along Kogi's roads and forest corridors.
