The Trump administration has threatened to cut off intelligence sharing and weapons sales to Ukraine if Kyiv does not halt strikes on Russian energy infrastructure.

The warnings were issued by the State Department and the Pentagon to officials in Ukraine and Europe over the weekend. Two Ukrainian officials stated that U.S. One official told The Kyiv Independent that "They called all the top military officials with threats," adding that "They're telling everyone that they're going to turn off both the intelligence sharing and PURL."

These threats follow President Donald Trump's announcement of a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin for Russian diesel imports and a unilateral energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, which reportedly blindsided both Moscow and Kyiv. Multiple senior Ukrainian officials indicated they were not informed in advance of the ceasefire announcement. Russia continued to attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure, with the Kharkiv thermal power plant being hit shortly after Trump's announcement.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Ukraine is ready to halt strikes on Russian oil refineries if Moscow ceases its own attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Zelensky's office previously stated that Ukraine had received all relevant orders following Trump's ceasefire announcement, without further specification. The Kremlin has not officially commented on the situation.
