A Russian Gerbera drone, likely intended for Ukraine, was shot down by a NATO fighter jet over central Lithuania on Tuesday after veering off course, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said.

The drone entered Lithuanian airspace from Belarus and traveled approximately 100 kilometers before being intercepted. Lithuanian army officials are analyzing the drone's electronics to determine its targeting. The incident marks the first time a drone has been downed in Lithuania's airspace. Meanwhile, two Rosneft oil refineries in Syzran and Saratov have halted operations following Ukrainian drone attacks.

The Syzran refinery's main crude oil distillation unit, accounting for 71% of its processing capacity, was damaged and may require at least a month for repairs. The Saratov refinery stopped processing oil on September 11, having previously suspended operations due to earlier drone strikes. Ukraine has been targeting Russian energy infrastructure to increase the cost of the war for Moscow.

U.S. President Donald Trump has called for an energy truce, stating both Russia and Ukraine had agreed to halt attacks on energy sites, a claim that Ukraine and Russia have not formally confirmed as a mutual agreement. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated Kyiv is ready for an energy ceasefire if Russia also stops attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, which he differentiates from Russia's focus on oil and gas exports. Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has linked the broader energy issue to the lifting of sanctions on Russia.
