The Coast Guard also sent two vessels from Sri Vijaya Puram. The cargo ship was carrying 72,100 tonnes of iron ore fines. An initial report by India’s Maritime Administration stated the iron ore was bound for China after departing Paradip port on Friday. The ship-tracking app MarineTraffic indicated the vessel was headed to Singapore from Paradip port. The cause of the sinking was not immediately known.
