Armed Man Arrested Near White House After Threatening President Donald Trump
The Story
Secret Service officers arrested Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos near the White House on Thursday night after finding three firearms and ammunition in his vehicle.
Officers approached Chrinos at 11:42 p.m. The Department of Homeland Security stated that Chrinos told officers he heard voices in his head telling him to travel to the capital and kill President Donald Trump. A court affidavit filed by a Secret Service police officer states that Chrinos was asleep inside a blue Ford F-150 when officers initiated a welfare check.
Chrinos used Google Translate on his phone to tell officers he possessed weapons he wished to surrender without resistance, stating he had the weapons because others had attempted to kill him. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered an AR-15-style rifle, a MAC-10 firearm, a Glock 43X pistol, and dozens of rounds of ammunition. Law enforcement confirmed the truck had been reported stolen, though Chrinos told investigators the vehicle belonged to his employer.
Federal prosecutors charged Chrinos with carrying a rifle outside a home or business, three counts of unlawful transportation of a firearm, three counts of possessing unregistered firearms, three counts of possessing unregistered ammunition, carrying a pistol without a license, theft, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Authorities have not filed an attempted assassination charge.
Homeland Security confirmed Chrinos is a Venezuelan national who crossed the border into Texas in March 2024. He remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service under an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.
