The Story
Amazon plans to build a 7.65 gigawatt gas plant in Pecos County, Texas, to power a new data center. The plant is authorized to emit 33 million tons of annual greenhouse gases, making it the largest source of carbon dioxide pollution in the U.S. Amazon states the facility will be self-sustaining and not raise local utility bills. Vistra CEO Jim Burke expressed a desire to see the queues culled.
