Singer Lionel Richie checked himself into a local hospital over the weekend following his performance in St. Louis on Saturday night. TMZ was the first to report the news of the 77-year-old singer's hospitalization. Sources close to the singer's tour stated Richie self-checked in after the show Saturday night and is doing okay. Richie returned to the stage on June 30 for a performance in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In July, he joked about needing electrolytes between songs during a show at Madison Square Garden. On July 4, Richie posted on Instagram, thanking followers for their concern and stating, "I'm doing well, and I'm grateful for all of you." Richie is currently in the middle of a 26-city "Sing A Song All Night Long" tour with Earth, Wind & Fire. His next scheduled performance is on September 26 in San Francisco. Richie was the lead singer and songwriter of the Commodores in the 1970s before going solo in the early 1980s. He co-wrote "We Are The World" in 1985 with Michael Jackson, which raised millions for famine relief in Ethiopia. He has been a judge on "American Idol" since 2018.
