Trump Discusses Pardons, Iran, and Netanyahu in Time Interview
The Story
President Donald Trump stated in a Time magazine interview published Thursday that he is considering pre-emptively pardoning members of his administration before the end of his second term, referencing former President Joe Biden's use of pardons.
Trump also said he rejected Iran's latest peace offer because it was not sufficient and that he may resume bombing Iran after the November 3 midterm elections. He told Time magazine he would not accept proposals from Iran that he wouldn’t have approved a year ago. Regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said he can't imagine Netanyahu was warned by Egypt or the UAE before the October 7 Hamas attack, stating he heard the reports for the first time that day.
Trump repeatedly avoided directly answering whether Netanyahu should be reelected. The interview also touched on Trump's record number of appearances on Time Magazine's cover, with 56 appearances surpassing Richard Nixon's 55. Trump expressed frustration during the interview, reportedly having a meltdown and swearing at journalists when not asked about accomplishments he is proud of. He also commented on the potential for Republicans to lose the House majority in the midterm elections, stating, "They'll probably go after me and I'll go after them."
