Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang is facing impending congressional investigations following reports that he had a romantic relationship with a Chinese businesswoman identified by United States intelligence as an operative for Beijing's Ministry of State Security.

A government memo circulated among top Trump administration policymakers last spring stated that the executive, Alice Huang, was recruited to collect intelligence on Jensen Huang and influence Nvidia to supply advanced artificial intelligence chips to China. The two individuals are not related. Trade records revealed that a Malaysian affiliate of Megaspeed, a company where Alice Huang worked, purchased at least $4.8 billion in advanced AI equipment containing Nvidia technology between June 2024 and February 2026.

The Commerce Department previously referred its investigation of Megaspeed to the Justice Department. In addition, separate reports revealed that New Matrix, a Chinese company authorized by the Commerce Department to purchase advanced Nvidia chips, listed an office address that reporters found to be an empty shell. In response to the disclosures, Senator Chris Coons announced that incoming congressional committees will investigate the matter.

Nvidia stated that its CEO's interactions with Alice Huang were not unusual and that the company does not share classified information with customers. Meanwhile, Madison Huang, a senior director at Nvidia and daughter of the CEO, abruptly canceled a planned visit to South Korea for an industry event.
