Rescuers in southern Ukraine searched through debris on Tuesday following a series of Russian airstrikes that killed at least 31 people and left more than 45 residents missing.

Monday attacks struck a shelter and former school in Komyshuvakha, a village in the Zaporizhzhia region, where residents had gathered to receive humanitarian aid. Regional officials stated that the bombardment utilized weapons including FAB-3000 bombs designed to destroy reinforced concrete bunkers, causing a shelter structure to collapse. The dead included four police officers and two rescue workers, while at least five people sustained injuries, including a 22-year-old woman with severe burns.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the strikes on Komyshuvakha coincided with a nationwide barrage of 289 attack drones, 17 ballistic missiles, and 59 cruise missiles across nine regions, which damaged power plants and hospitals. Zelenskyy stated that the attacks occurred as Ukraine prepared for upcoming peace negotiations and noted the timing alongside elections in the United States.

Regional authorities declared three days of official mourning in Zaporizhzhia from November 3 to November 5. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that its forces targeted Ukrainian military units and energy facilities rather than civilian sites.
