El-Sayed Accuses Rogers of Fearing Trump; Rogers Gains Democrat Support

Michigan Democratic Senate Candidate Abdul El-Sayed accused his Republican opponent Mike Rogers of being afraid of pissing off Daddy Trump during an MS NOW appearance on Thursday.

El-Sayed stated Rogers avoids discussing Trump's policies, particularly the war in Iran, and takes softball interviews from Fox News, NewsNation, or Newsmax. Meanwhile, Mike Rogers launched "Democrats for Mike Rogers" on Thursday in Detroit. Michigan state Rep. Karen Whitsett, a lifelong Democrat until March, spoke at Rogers' event, stating she could not support El-Sayed due to his "Medicare for All" stance, which she said would lead to people losing their health insurance.

Lopatin accused El-Sayed of showing contempt for Jews as a people and calling his people bloodthirsty, citing El-Sayed's comments after a Detroit-area synagogue attack in March. Lopatin also criticized El-Sayed for campaign events with left-wing, anti-Israel influencer Hasan Piker, who Lopatin said called Orthodox Jews inbred. El-Sayed lost with Black voters in Michigan in the August 4 primary, losing all of metro Detroit, with polling showing Haley Stevens leading El-Sayed by 46 points among Black voters.

El-Sayed responded to criticism that he doesn't care about black folks by stating, "I am Arab. I'm also African," noting his family emigrated from Egypt. The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) ousted Marcus Muhammad, mayor of Benton Harbor and an ally of El-Sayed, from its advisory committee due to his position as a student minister in the Nation of Islam, a group CAM accuses of spreading blood libel conspiracy theories against Jews.Former GOP gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon warned that El-Sayed's agenda could permanently change America.
