This development follows reports that Miller is battling domestic abuse allegations. Sources predicted to Axios that Miller could end his re-election bid by the end of this week. The House Ethics Committee stated it would investigate domestic abuse allegations against Miller after the congressman requested the probe. The allegations involve his ex-wife and their toddler child.

One report detailed that the congressman sued a daycare last year after his daughter was taken to an emergency room with injuries. The daughter was reportedly found with injuries on her thighs, face, groin, and vaginal area, and incurred psychological trauma. Republicans are confronting multiple abuse or harassment allegations involving several lawmakers that threaten to complicate the party's midterm message.

These include allegations against Representatives Cory Mills and Chuck Edwards. Max Miller's daughter was rushed to a hospital covered in bruises, according to one report.
