Michigan Representative Haley Stevens endorsed Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers ahead of the election following a deterioration of her relationship with Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed.

Stevens lost the Democratic primary in August to El-Sayed by 1 percentage point. Tensions between the two primary rivals escalated over differing stances on Israel, and Stevens stated that El-Sayed informed her she was no longer welcome in his campaign and should stay away. Stevens appeared alongside Rogers at a Detroit church on Sunday to announce her endorsement, prompting the Michigan Democratic Party to immediately expel her.

House Democratic leaders condemned the decision, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries calling it a terrible decision that isolated Stevens from the caucus. Democratic lawmakers discussed potential disciplinary measures, including stripping Stevens of committee assignments and barring her from caucus meetings until her congressional term expires on January 3, 2027. Since Stevens did not seek reelection in the House in order to run in the Senate primary, she is set to leave office at the conclusion of the current term.

Meanwhile, El-Sayed's campaign reported a record-breaking single-day fundraising haul of 2.4 million dollars on Sunday following the endorsement, drawing contributions from more than 65,000 donors.
