Michigan Senate Poll Shows Democrat El-Sayed Trailing Republican Rogers

A Fox News poll conducted by a bipartisan pair of polling firms found Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed trailing Republican nominee Mike Rogers by 4 percentage points in Michigan, with Rogers at 51% and El-Sayed at 47%.

The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 3 points. In the same survey, Democrat Jocelyn Benson leads Republican John James by 5 points for governor, 52%-47%. El-Sayed underperforms Benson across various demographic groups, including men (by 4 points), women (by 8 points), white voters (by 5 points), Black voters (by 11 points), college-educated voters (by 4 points), voters without a college degree (by 7 points), and voters under 30 (by 7 points).

Benson secures independents by 18 points (56%-38%), while El-Sayed loses them by 5 points (48%-43%). El-Sayed recently defeated Haley Stevens in a competitive Democratic primary, and Stevens has since endorsed him. El-Sayed is a progressive who will face former representative Rogers in the November general election. El-Sayed's staff has faced criticism for attempting to link a patriotic campaign ad from Rogers, featuring a vintage truck, to the KKK and white supremacy.

El-Sayed has also responded to the NRSC's use of his full name, Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed, stating his name is not the reason for national issues like illegal wars or healthcare costs.A former DNC official expressed a desire for El-Sayed to lose, stating that "DSA candidates do not represent my party."
