Pakistani security forces killed 12 militants and Afghan Taliban personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Kurram district, thwarting an infiltration attempt from Afghanistan.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that a group of khawarij attempting to cross the international border from Afghanistan into Pakistan was detected on October 10. Security forces engaged them effectively. Afghan Taliban posts also opened fire to support the infiltration attempt. Naib Subedar Hidayat Aman, 40, from Ghizer district, was martyred during the exchange of fire.

The ISPR stated this incident vindicates Islamabad's objective and factual stance regarding the willful abject failure of the Afghan Taliban regime to deny the use of Afghan soil to the terrorist organisation. The ISPR accused the regime of facilitating and patronizing cross-border terrorism and consistently failing to meet its international counter-terrorism obligations. "Fitna al Khawarij" is a term the state uses for terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

A sanitization operation is underway in the area to eliminate any remaining "Indian-sponsored khwarij." Pakistan reported more than 5,300 terrorism incidents and over 1,200 related fatalities in 2025. Security assessments identify over 20 terrorist organizations operating in Afghanistan, including approximately 6,000 Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants and 2,000 to 3,000 Islamic State Khorasan Province operatives.
