One Killed, Four Wounded Including Two Children in Kentucky Park Shooting

One person was killed and four others were wounded, including two children, in a shooting at Charles Young Park in Lexington, Kentucky, on Saturday evening.

The victims included a 4-year-old, a 14-year-old, and two adults, all of whom were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The deceased was not immediately identified. Gunfire erupted around 6:45 p.m. during an outdoor concert event, sending attendees running for cover. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced the shooting while speaking at a Democratic Party dinner nearby.

Police have not released information about a suspect or motive, but Police Chief Lawrence Weathers stated he did not believe there was an ongoing threat to the public. The incident remains under investigation.
