Armed Guard Shoots and Kills Gunman After Attack at Florida Office Complex

A gunman drove a vehicle through a security fence at Citibank's campus in Brandon near Tampa on Wednesday and shot a female employee dead before an armed security guard killed him inside a cafeteria.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received initial 911 calls reporting gunfire at 12:11 p.m., with deputies arriving within one minute. The suspect drove a sedan over road medians and grassy areas before crashing into an outdoor dining area where employees were eating lunch, then exited the vehicle carrying an AR-15-style rifle. Four other people suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening conditions.

About 3,200 employees were on the property at the time of the incident. Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister described the attack as a targeted incident, while investigators work to establish a motive and determine whether the suspect and the victim knew each other. Citi stated that it was aware of the incident, coordinated with law enforcement, and established a reunification center for employees.
