Israeli military strikes across the Gaza Strip killed at least eight people, including a child, on Sunday, according to Palestinian hospital officials and emergency services.

In northern Gaza City, a missile strike hit a civilian encampment adjacent to the Cairo School in the Al-Rimal neighborhood, killing three people. Among the dead was a four-year-old boy, whose body was brought alongside two adult fatalities to Gaza City's Shifa Hospital. Civilian Ali Oweis stated that his son and grandchild were killed by the missile while sitting inside their tent.

In southern Gaza, an Israeli drone strike hit a group of police officers carrying out routine duties in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis. The interior ministry in Gaza reported that the strike killed five on-duty police officers, whose ages ranged between 23 and 53, and described the incident as a horrific massacre. Bodies of the officers were received at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.

The Israeli military confirmed carrying out two separate attacks against what it characterized as military operatives, though it did not immediately provide evidence or details regarding the targeted individuals. The strikes occurred under an existing ceasefire agreement that began in October of the prior year, under which thousands of Palestinian prisoners were released in exchange for the remaining 48 hostages held in Gaza.

A broader peace initiative brokered by the Trump administration remains stalled. Gaza health authorities report that 1,580 people have been killed by near-daily Israeli strikes since the ceasefire took effect.
