The Golden State Valkyries advanced to the WNBA semifinals on Friday night, October 2, 2026, by defeating the Dallas Wings 77-73 in a deciding Game 3 of their first-round playoff series.

The Valkyries, in their second season, clinched their first-ever playoff series on home court. During the game, with less than two minutes remaining, Valkyries coach Natalie Nakase collapsed on the sideline. Athletic trainer Katelin Knox quickly came to her side, and Nakase was helped up, returning to the bench to lead the team's huddle. According to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, Nakase was feeling exhausted and lightheaded but was fine after the game.

Assistant coach Kasib Powell took over press conference duties, stating Nakase was talking, laughing, and in great spirits, and didn't miss a beat during the game. Gabby Williams led the Valkyries with 19 points, while Tiffany Hayes scored 18, Veronica Burton 16, and Kaila Charles 10. Former Ace Kia Stokes contributed 13 rebounds. The Aces defeated the Indiana Fever in their first-round series, with A’ja Wilson scoring 36 points and 10 rebounds in their Game 3 victory.
