President Donald Trump honored Charlie Kirk on the first anniversary of his assassination, calling him the greatest evangelist for American liberty.

The White House released a video tribute combining clips of Kirk and his funeral. Trump spoke at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Texas, where he remembered Kirk as a fearless patriot and conservative voice killed by a far-Left extremist. He stated that Kirk spoke the truth and that many people made excuses for or cheered his murder.

The convention, held exactly one year after Kirk's death on September 10, 2025, aimed to rally the Republican Party ahead of the November elections. Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University. Tyler Robinson is accused of the killing and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

Conspiracy theories surrounding Kirk's death persist, with some amplified by influencers like Candace Owens. The University of Tennessee condemned flyers celebrating the assassination, and similar events were advertised at other universities. Turning Point USA has grown since Kirk's death, expanding its presence at colleges and high schools, but some young voters brought into the party by Kirk are reportedly showing less loyalty to Donald Trump. The organization plans to spend $15-20 million in ads in New Hampshire, Arizona, and Nevada for the midterms.
