Parton was laid to rest in Nashville on August 28, beside her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, who died at age 82 in March 2025. Owens stated that Parton wanted to keep the ceremony quiet, with only a few loved ones present. Parton died on August 25 at age 80, following a brief battle with cancer, which she kept secret to maintain a positive atmosphere around her.
The star was dedicated in Parton’s honor in 1984. Bryan Seaver, Parton’s nephew, announced her passing in a video on her X account. Parton recorded over 60 albums, and a never-before-heard song is scheduled for release on January 19, 2046, which would have been her 100th birthday. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and the Nashville International Airport announced their intent to rename the hub to honor Dolly Parton.
